Due to anticipated State of Illinois COVID-19 restrictions remaining through the summer and for the safety of our residents , the 4th of July Parade and Fourth Fest event are cancelled . Battle of the Bands and the Fireworks Display may be rescheduled to later in the year if State of Illinois COVID-19 guidelines allow . While this was a difficult decision to cancel and postpone our traditional Independence Day celebrations that have been enjoyed by generations of Highland Park residents , the safety of our community is our top priority .

LET ' S HAVE A SAFE & FESTIVE 4TH OF JULY ! In place of the traditional 4th of July community events , the Park District is hosting a series of small outdoor family friendly events to celebrate our Independence Day .

We wish you and your family a safe and fun 4th of July and hope to see you at our events !

2021 Friday , July 2 – Monday , July 5 2021 FIRECRACKER 5K VIRTUAL RUN , WALK , AND BIKE EVENT

Complete the Virtual 5K at your own pace in your neighborhood , on a path , on a treadmill , exercise bike or any place you can safely social distance !

• All proceeds benefit the Parks Foundation of Highland Park SMILE Grant-in-Aid Fund .

• All participants who complete the 5K are entered to win prizes ! $ 25 / household Register today !

10:30-11:15am FIRECRACKER FAMILY BOOT CAMP FREE ! Outdoors at the Recreation Center of Highland Park Join us for a 4th of July special family workout outside the Recreation Center of Highland Park . Families will complete a set of fitness challenges as a team and compete against other families for the best time or number of reps . Prizes for challenge winners and fun for all !
