National Conference of
Bar Examiners to Conduct Survey
The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) has established a task force to embark on a comprehensive, future-
focused study to ensure the bar examination continues to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for competent
entry-level legal practice in the 21st century. The study will consider the content, format, delivery method, and timing of the
bar examination and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE). The goal of the task force’s study is to
develop a set of recommendations for the NCBE Board of Trustees.
As a phase of the study, NCBE will be conducting a survey to identify activities, tasks of new lawyers, knowledge, and the
skills and abilities to perform them. The State Bar Association of North Dakota (SBAND) will distribute the survey link to its
membership. SBAND members are encouraged to participate in this study. Please watch for this information in “News from
SBAND” emails beginning August 1.
