FROM THE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

The Contractor Development Program (CDP), administered by Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services, is happy to share with you our Summer 2019 Newsletter! We are excited about the upcoming opportunities in San Francisco, supported by CDP, and encourage you to take the time to read through all the articles. In this issue, we highlight the Port of San Francisco, introduce you to JDB & Sons Construction Inc., discuss creating a business profit model, and give you an overview of relevant contract and subcontract law.

The Port of San Francisco (Port) is and has been making concerted outreach efforts to educate local contractors on upcoming work. The Port’s Strategic Plan is slated to provide over $425 Million of work in the development of a seawall and other projects. Our highlighted LBE contractor, JDB & Sons Construction Inc., is successfully growing while working on important projects in San Francisco. Working with CDP, JDB has been able to improve bonding, financial and business controls, and their health and safety plans. Learn how the benefits of developing a business profit model include creating a clear marketing picture with a direction for attracting new clients.

As mentioned in the Business Resources & Education: Developing an Effective Profit Model article, CDP is working with the City and County of San Francisco’s Risk Management and Contract Monitoring Division to implement the Contractor Accelerated Payment Program (CAPP). Lastly, we offer valuable tips for understanding subcontract language and working with primes.

Please contact us directly to find out about more changes to CDP and about upcoming seminars in the works. We appreciate hearing from you and look forward to working with you in the future for your technical assistance needs.

Best Regards,

The Contractor Development Team
