” Knowing that small business owners do not have a lot of time to deal with time-consuming business plans, John and his team created a brief workshop that is interesting and accessible for LBEs. “This is a program that helps small contractors plan ahead for where they want to take their business,” explains John. “We understand that many are coming out of the trades and not wanting to live paycheck to paycheck, so if they are willing to take the risk to start their own businesses and are willing to learn the best practices for success, then we are here to share relevant information and practical steps to implement strategies for their business success.”

Business Profit Model workshop facilitator and CAPP Program Manager, John Miller.

In addition to offering Business Profit Model workshops, John is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of the Contractors’ Accelerated Payment Program (CAPP). The CAPP provides qualified LBE’s with accelerated payments on construction projects awarded to them by the City of San Francisco, thereby mitigating a key barrier to entry for LBE’s into the competitive public works arena. As part of the CAPP, he works directly with the City, LBEs, the Primes with whom they have contracts and surety companies to help securing bonding and ensure that small contractors have the technical support and funds to continue working on projects to completion.
