• Participation by teachers from our Schools and Youthreach Centres in the teaching and learning project ‘Magenta Principles’ facilitated by renowned educationalist and author of the book on that subject by Mike Hughes. The ‘Magenta Principles’ examines the engagement, depth and challenge of teaching and learning in the classroom.

• Success in winning a national competition to achieve Music Education Partnerships (Music Generation) in both County Wexford and County Waterford in partnership with Wexford County Council, Waterford City and County Council and many interested partners in music education across both counties. This programme will bring music education to thousands of young people over the next few years.

• Great success by our students across a range of academic, sporting and cultural areas examples of which are contained within this Newsletter. Among the success stories are winners of Michael Sweetman Education Trust, County and National Student Enterprise Awards, National Press Pass awards, Sporting Excellence, Young Scientists Exhibition Award winners and many others.

• Outstanding inspection reports from the Department of Education and Skills in our schools and centres

• Great innovation and developments across a massive range of further education and training programmes and courses. Progression towards formal approval by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) of quality assurance procedures across WWETB.

• Commencement of a number of pilot programmes in ‘well-being for staff’. Other staff welfare initiatives over the past year include the initial Retirement Ceremony, Retirement Planning Sessions and inspirational speakers at Staff Training Events.

• Consolidation of major changes and integration across our administrative, operations and executive structures. Great credit is due to the staff involved for their contribution to this process.

• Great progress by the Communications Steering Group as we develop the WWETB ‘brand’.

• On-going development of our WWETB wide Information and Communication Technology Structures to further support teaching and learning and to safeguard and secure our data.
