Shielbaggan Outdoor Education and Training Centre
Hopefully summer has arrived… At last!! And at Shielbaggan Outdoor Education and Training Centre the busy season here and we are all enjoying the sound of participants trying activities for the first time, gaining experience or indeed learning to operate or instruct at the highest levels.
Our most exciting news is that we are in the process of employing a Field Studies expert to run Geographical Investigations for leaving Cert, Junior Cycle Geography, National School Field Studies and Bush-craft. This will also bring us a strong level of curriculum expertise.
Our Cycle-Right courses have gone from strength to strength in National Schools. This is a programme part funded by the RSA to provide a much needed road proficiency scheme. One of our Cycle-Right participants even cycled the Hand-bike we had sourced for him onto the Late Late Toy Show!
Perhaps the most exciting piece of news is that WWETB is liaising with the County Council to utilise the Site they are developing on the summit of Forth Mountain to create a new purpose built Outdoor Education facility. So whilst we are not there yet… watch this space and we will give you the news as soon as we get it.
