Camp Napa Enrichment Camps at Blue Oak Middle School
LEGO® Robotics Camp EV3
Build and program robots using the new LEGO ® Mindstorms
EV3 system. Learn about mechanical and software design, loops,
conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work
in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the
challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry
objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students
work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having
fun. For more information or instructor bios go to Play-Well.org.

In 2014, Napa experienced a large earthquake that damaged
infrastructure and shut down schools. In our Natural Disasters
camp, we will be learning about the science behind earthquakes
and other natural disasters and extreme weather, such as tornadoes
and volcanoes. We will also learn about how scientists and
engineers collaborate to predict, prevent, and protect people from
these phenomena.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Many people have seen an airplane and wondered how, exactly, an
approximately 450-ton metal contraption zooms through the sky
at around 600 miles per hour. This question (and more like it) will
be answered in our “The Sky’s the Limit” camp! In this camp we
will learn about flying technologies and aeronautical engineering,
such as planes, hot air balloons, and rockets: how they work, how
they’ve improved our lives, and how we can make them work even
better. And in honor of the Fourth of July, we will investigate how
fireworks fly as well.
