'Floral Explosion' at Kennedy College

Huge congratulations to a group of Transition Year students at Kennedy College, Caitlin Murray, Sandra Murphy and Viktoria Pulido who were recently successful in getting through to the East Regional Finals of the Bank Of Ireland Junk Kouture Competition on Friday 3rd March in the Helix Theatre Dublin with their dress design called 'Floral Explosion'.

It was Kennedy College's first year offering the Transition Year Programme and hence the first venture into the world of fashion design all be it 'Junk Kouture'. Huge congratulations and thanks also to Art Teacher Ms Jamie Ellen Doyle who has helped the girls all year to get this far.

Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture is a national contest which encourages young designers in second level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.

Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture aims to inspire and ignite passion in these teenagers while at the same time subtly educating them about the importance of recycling and reusing waste.

There was a public vote element to the competition and many local businesses, schools etc. came on board to help by voting. Unfortunately ‘Floral Explosion didn’t proceed to the finals. Huge congrats to all involved. Kennedy College are looking forward to entering the competition again next year.
