Guggenheim Museum Empire State Building The 86th floor is the goal, as it has been for more than 70 years. More than 10 million people have taken in the view since it opened. Due to a recent revitalization, the lobby now looks much like it did at that time, in its Art Deco glory. What’s new, though, is the fact that the 6,514 windows have been refitted, using 95 percent of the original glass, and drastically increasing the insulating value of each one. The building is exponentially more energy efficient than it ever has been.
