UGVs as a distruption
In our region, milder winters and longer spring and fall seasons keep geese around for longer periods. Geese gather in large flocks and cause significant issues. They pollute and create sanitation problems in parks and swimming areas, and they pose major challenges for farmers because they eat crops. Since these birds are protected, alternative ways to reduce their impact must be found.

Various solutions, such as scarecrows, increased human presence, and lasers, have been tested by different actors. These methods have been effective for a period, but over time, their effectiveness becomes limited. This case study demonstrated that a remotely operated unmanned ground vehicle was highly effective. Geese are protected in their nesting areas, but not in places where they merely spend time. Therefore, the demonstration did not require a permit or request.
