Next-Gen drone light show
Fireworks increase air pollution. An environmentally friendly alternative is to use a drone light show. Drone light shows must ensure that people are not harmed when watching the hundreds of small drones flying above them. New Year ' s celebrations in 2024 in the USA ended with a 10-year-old boy being seriously injured when hit by a falling drone.
The current tools for designing flight paths have limitations; for example, the graphical digital visualizations are two-dimensional and do not reflect real conditions at the geographic location. This means that what appears on the screen differs from reality. A user-friendly graphical user interface for designing complex flight paths and preventing drone collisions has been developed and demonstrated in this case. The remaining technical challenges include, for example, further programming for exporting flight paths to real-world drone swarms and developing ground station administration and control.
