Successful Woman Entrepreneur Volume 2 - The Empowerment Issue | Page 32

Experiencing fear and nervousness before and during your presentation is quite normal.

In fact, studies show that the #1 fear that people have is the fear of speaking in public. It even beats back the fear of death. Nevertheless, allowing fear to control, distract or prevent you from getting your message out has and never will be part of the plan.

The truth is, you were created a woman of POWER and INFLUENCE, to deliver a message that only you can deliver to your specific audience, in your own style, as YOU. Whatever the subject, you are called to get in front of your clients, prospects and others to impact and initiate transformation using the information you are sharing.

Do you see a place for fear in what I just outlined? Certainly not.

Of course, the emotions do build up as our mind roams on thoughts such as:

I am not good enough

I am more comfortable with one on one talks and not a group (big or small) of people

What if they don't like what I am saying

What if I forget what to say and freeze up

What if, what if?.

Here are a few things for you to think about and consider doing right away:

There will always be “what if’s”

They are there to scare, get you nervous and second guess yourself, but you have to place the truth as you read in the paragraph above, to the forefront of your mind and repeat until it resonates with you and you believe nothing else, unconditionally, regardless of what you feel, regardless of who says what or what situation is presented to you. This is called your Mindset Change. It will only come when you are deliberate, intentional and focused.

Get to know your audience.

Find out as much as you can about your audience before meeting them. Take a good look at the various persons present before getting to the podium. Interact with some of them (upon your arrival or while waiting to be introduced) and make quick notes; mental or otherwise. If you are presenting online, get as much background as you can through their registration (if they have signed up for your coaching or training), add them as contacts and view their profile to learn more.

Fear Has NO Space

You were born for this!
