CEPREDENAC declares 2024 as the "year of Anticipatory Action in Central America"

promote the integration of Anticipatory Action in the Disaster Risk Management strategies of governments and national systems, and to move towards a more local Anticipatory Action, the Regional Dialogue Platform in Central America was held from October 31 to November 2 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, simultaneously with the Mitch +25 forum. The forum commemorated 25 years after the impact of hurricane Mitch.
Under the slogan "Towards a more local and integrated anticipatory action", key actors from national Disaster Risk Management systems, as well as technical, operational and financial resource partners, were brought together.
With a vision ahead of the future of Integrated Disaster Risk Management, the Central American governments, represented in CEPREDENAC, signed a declaration to make official their commitment for the integration of Anticipatory Action in policies, legal frameworks, response and contingency plans of national risk management and civil protection systems, including an inclusive and multi-sector approach.
The strategic document declared 2024 as "the year of Anticipatory Action" in Central America.
