Anticipation representatives in the Americas

joined the tenth Global Dialogue Platform

he tenth Global

Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Action held in December 2022 in Berlin, Germany, was a space through which the Anticipation Hub invited participants to look in two directions.

To look back and reflect on the evolution of anticipatory action since the first dialogue platform held in 2015. And to look to the future around the question that served as the motto, are we doing it right?

Representing the anticipatory initiatives in the Americas were Verónica Rivera, FbF coordinator at the Guatemalan Red Cross; Alexei Castro, executive director of the Honduran Red Cross; Jorge Arteaga, manager of essential areas at the Ecuadorian Red Cross;

and Tomás Sarkis, FbF focal point at the Argentine Red Cross.

During the different sessions of the event, lessons learned from the recent activations of the Early Action Plans for floods in Guatemala and Honduras in 2022, and the activation for volcanic ash dispersion and fall in Ecuador in 2020 were shared. The innovative approach to anticipate human mobility in Honduras and its challenges in the national context was also highlighted.
