Mapping course will strengthen risk analysis in
Colombia, Argentina and El Salvador

to strengthen capacities on information management and risk analysis, three training courses were held for staff and volunteers from the Colombian Red Cross, the Argentine Red Cross and the Salvadoran Red Cross. The course for the elaboration of maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools is semi-virtual and self-directed.
David Pulido, focal point for FbF in Colombia, highlighted that "in the case of the Colombian Red Cross, the course is an opportunity to strengthen our risk analysis at the national level, making our assistance more effective in both response and anticipation initiatives".
The total duration of the mapping course is approximately 30 hours and includes modules on data collection, tools for risk and vulnerability assessment, introduction to GIS, intervention maps, and disaster preparedness.
