More than 2,200 Honduran families received assistance to anticipate the effects of tropical storm Julia
n October 2022, the
Early Action Plan (EAP) for floods associated with tropical storms, of the Honduran Red Cross, came into action as an essential instrument for the coordination of early actions. The EAP was activated in ahead of the forecasts of potential impacts of floods caused by tropical storm Julia in Honduras.
Among the prioritized impacts were the loss of subsistence crops.
Other potential impacts include losses in commerce and livestock; access to food and safe water; loss of household goods; and an increase in the occurrence of gastrointestinal diseases.
Ahead of them, the National Society's teams were deployed to lead early actions to support communities located in risk areas in the Sula valley, located in the northern part of the country; assisting more than 1,600 families with water and sanitation kits and more than 600 families with economic support through multipurpose cash transfers.
