Guatemalan Red Cross developed an activation drill of the Early Action Plan for Tropical Storms in Mazatenango and Quetzaltenango

he Guatemalan Red

Cross developed during the week of December 13 to the 17, an Activation Drill of the Early Action Plan for Tropical Storms, focusing on the Cash Transfer Programs component.

During the Drill, 30 families from the communities of Bolivia and Conrado de la Cruz in Santo Domingo Suchitepéquez, located in the Mazatenango Delegation participated, as well as 65 families from Xetuj, in the Quetzaltenango Delegation.

The families received 300

quetzales in cash (about $40.00) corresponding to 10% of the humanitarian aid in cash that the National Society usually delivers.

The drill was an essential experience to define and specify details of the Early Action Plan for Tropical Storms, which is under revision.

From the activation of personnel, the mobilization of resources and most of all, the approach to the communities located in the risk zones, this was an enriching experience for both the National Society's technical staff and the volunteers.
