Dialogue Platform in Latin America and the Caribbean, virtual edition, was held from June 2 to 4 with the participation of more than 450 people, representing nearly 40 countries. The event promoted the importance of disaster and crisis preparedness and highlighted the scaling-up of different Anticipatory Action initiatives in the region.
The Platform featured high-level presenters, such as Claudia Herrera, executive secretary of CEPREDENAC; Carlos Iván Márquez, board member of the Colombian Red Cross; Stephen McAndrew, deputy director for the IFRC regional office in the Americas; Lina Pohl, representative of FAO Mexico; Paula Pagniez, director of the Climate and Resilience Hub at Willis Towers Watson; Guillermo Gonzales, minister of the National System for Disaster Prevention in Nicaragua (SINAPRED), among others.
The diverse sessions in the program, including panels, working and creative sessions exposed the importance of collective efforts, where the role of coordination is key to implement early actions.
The 3rd Regional Dialogue Platform was organized by the Anticipation Hub, the German Red Cross, the World Food Program (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Climate Center and the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC); and the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office.
