Coordination visits with Key Actors of Guatemalan Red Cross

a key component of the FbF Readiness program. To promote coordination and cooperation with key actors of the Guatemalan Red Cross, a visit to strategic institutions was made in December for the implementation of FbF in Guatemala.
During the tour, meetings were held with the Guatemalan Red Cross focal points for FbF, as well as strategic meetings with representatives of the Guatemalan Universities' Platform for Disaster Risk Management (InterU-GRD), the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH) and the Coordination Center for the Prevention of Disasters in Central America and the Dominican Republic (CEPREDENAC).
The contribution of both scientific and meteorological institutions as well as regional organizations specialized in risk management is fundamental for the implementation of early actions in Guatemala. The FbF Readiness program will last approximately two years, a time frame where coordinated efforts will be done for the institutional strengthening of the Guatemalan Red Cross and the Risk Management System in the country.
