What kept me going was my enthusiasm and ability to share and communicate my passion. I was able to build on my strength. What were some of the major challenges you faced as a start-up company? Becoming a member of the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) enabled us to establish a network with factories. This eliminated the cost of building our own factory and increased our chances of receiving benefits. One of the benefits includes the government providing a duty-free incentive for some of the raw materials we import. Product consistency. We didn’t have a set formula when we began so the product was different each time we made it. Hence, customers started complaining. Unhappy customers aren’t good for business so we had to find a way to remain consistent. The Scientific Research Council (SRC) helped us standardize the formula.
