Beloved reggae icon Buju Banton’s iconic renowned song “It’s Not an Easy Road” is a timely reminder
to those hoping to enter the world of entrepreneurship. Some pertinent lines from the song are
"It’s not an easy road
Many see the glamour and the glitter
And think it's a bed of rose
Who feels it knows
Lord help me sustain these blows"
There are many benefits to being an entrepreneur. You’re the boss and, therefore, have greater control
over your time and finances. However, being the boss also means that you have greater responsibility;
it’s your job to ensure that enough money is earned for the business to thrive. It takes a lot of work and
sacrifice, a fact that entrepreneurial hopefuls tend to forget.
This issue highlights some entrepreneurs who have experienced the di�cult journey but have still
managed to create growing businesses. Creating businesses that solve unique problems in the local
market is the common thread that binds them together and has helped them survive. We’ve also
featured a young entrepreneur who proves that it’s never too early to start using your talents to earn an
income.
My hope is that these stories will inspire you to face the realities of entrepreneurship head-on and be
prepared for success. You can overcome any obstacles that come your way.
