Her journey began in 2011 when her best
friend had her first child. Living several miles
away from her childhood home meant that her
friend couldn’t readily find someone to babysit.
Sabriena happily obliged since doing so allowed
her to practice her
love for childcare.
Sabriena’s friend trusted her completely and
would often leave her toddler in Sabriena’s
care. After a few nights babysitting, Sabriena
had a lightbulb moment. What if there are
other people who also have di�culties finding
in-home childcare? What if a team of childcare
providers could be created to meet this need?
Toddler Care Jamaica was Sabriena’s answer to

However, she faced one major obstacle;
mothers were less inclined to leave their
children in the care of complete
strangers. Taking all these steps to ensure
that the right persons were hired wasn’t
enough. Jobs were, therefore, few and far
between for the first five years. There
were several times throughout that
period when she felt like giving up, but
her passion gave her a lifeline.
Her persistence was rewarded when a
Jamaican social media influencer heard
about Toddler Care Jamaica and hired
mouth advertising helped Toddler Care
Jamaica grow exponentially. In fact, the
company has grown so much that
Sabriena has to recruit more childcare
professionals to meet the demand.
There is beauty in finding your passion
and using that passion to create a
successful business. Sabriena’s story
shows that persistence is what makes
one’s passion become purpose. She
believes that she was meant to do this
and expects the business to continue to
expand into a national brand.
