He chanced upon Andrew Foy’s YouTube
channel during this time and was impressed.
Foy was able to produce strong videos that
helped him build a YouTube career. Odane saw
an opportunity…there weren’t many guitar
teachers in Mandeville. So, he started providing
music lessons while building his own YouTube
channel. How do you see your music career developing
over the next 5 years?
Have you had any memorable experiences
playing either individually or with a band? What advice would you give to someone trying to
develop a career in music?
He recalled 3 experiences that stand out in his
mind: Ensure that you love it. It can be very hard work so if
you don’t love it, you’ll give up. Don’t go into it for
the money; do it for the love and you’ll see the
rewards.
He went to Bay View Eco Resort & Spa in Port
Antonio, Jamaica and played for 30 minutes. It
was his first solo performance and the feeling
was amazing.
He played at a wedding in Spanish Town and
received great crowd response.
The band he’s a part of, Total Praise, hosts an
event called Village Worship in Kendal. He was
the lead guitarist for 2 of the songs they
performed. Being the lead guitarist was a great
experience. Also, the atmosphere of the event
was amazing and uplifting.
He sees himself teaching music and wants to attend
Musikmesse, an annual international music event
held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Music is his
career, his true calling.
Ensure that you’re good at what you’re doing and
can prove it.
Work on your image as a musician. If you don’t look
the part, people won’t hire you.
Do you offer any music related services? If so,
how can people contact you?
He oers classes and plays at events. You can
contact him at 876-586-3891 for booking
information.
What type of music do you enjoy playing?
He enjoys playing emotional, soulful music that
is positive and uplifting. He also writes his own
songs and has about 10 in his repertoire.
