However , things changed when Dr . Price was about seven years old . Her parents separated and her mom decided that it was best for Dr . Price and her sister to move to Jamaica . Dr . Price describes this period as one of the most difficult times in her life . She says , “ There were times when we had no light or water and we had to go to Food for the Poor to get food to eat .” It was a seven year period riddled with challenges which forced Dr . Price to grow up quickly .
Her mom would travel back to the United States ( U . S .) occasionally to work and send back money to take care of the needs at home . Dr . Price and her sister were left with relatives or close family friends . She was the person who had to go to Western Union , collect the money her mom had sent and then budget that money to ensure that it covered the bills and lasted until the next remittance was sent . This experience taught her to learn how to manage money at an early age .
Dr . Price returned to the U . S . when she was fourteen and eventually decided that she was interested in business and in becoming a criminal justice attorney . These interests led to her completing a Bachelor ' s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Forensic Psychology and Entrepreneurship , a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a Specialization in Legal Perspective and a PHD in Conflict Resolution with a focus on Organizational Conflict . She worked two jobs while completing her degrees and
was even a corrections officer while pursuing her PHD . However , she soon realised that the criminal justice system was not what she thought it would be .
She had to shift gears . Change course . Tek anodda path . Therefore , she decided to pour gasoline on her passion for business . This led to the creation of her company , Priceless Planning , which she runs full time . Through this company , she delivers educational workshops and events that help organizations develop strong brands . One of the greatest lessons she has learnt as a fulltime entrepreneur is that she always has to find creative ways to make money ; the money she needs won ’ t magically appear . She haffi hustle an ’ hustle haad ! She lives by the philosophy that she has a Godgiven purpose here on earth and she won ’ t rest until she has completely used her talents to bless the world .
