Drivers say ‘No’ to Cannabis Bumper Stickers
Even as a growing number of states are enacting legalization laws, stigma
around marijuana is alive and well in the U.S. — at least according to a recent
survey about the kinds of bumper stickers America’s drivers are willing to
put on their vehicles. Drivers say they would be less open to displaying a
cannabis-related decal than ones featuring messages surrounding other
controversial topics, like politics, religion, gun ownership, or even President
Donald Trump. Of those who wouldn’t sport a cannabis bumper sticker on
their cars, most noted they are worried it would affect how police would
perceive them. The survey (conducted by SafeHome.org) of 1,195 people
asked whether drivers would be willing to display various bumper-sticker
messages, including their “support for/opposition to marijuana.” Of all the
topics asked about, cannabis was the least popular, with only 34 percent of
respondents saying they’d consider such a decal. However, 53 percent said
they would be willing to advertise their views on gun ownership.

Cannabis May Ease COVID-Related Lung Inflammation
With the ongoing COVID pandemic, researchers continue searching for
solutions from cannabis. The latest information suggests cannabinoids
may help relieve lung inflammation caused by the deadly virus.
Researchers from the University of Nebraska and Texas
Biomedical Research Institute are recommending more
research into how cannabis-derived CBD might
help treat dangerous lung inflammation
from the novel coronavirus. The
authors detailed the evidence for
how cannabis’ anti-inflammatory
powers may help in a recent article published in Brain, Behavior, and Immunity.
Because COVID can lead to pneumonia, scientists have been searching for ways
to reduce lung inflammation and because it reduces inflammation, CBD is a likely
means. In an animal study on asthma, CBD reduced production of proinflammatory
cytokine, actually reducing airway inflammation. In the same study CBD also reduced
pulmonary fibrosis — a condition where lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred,
thickening lung tissue and making breathing more difficult.

Boomers and Millennials Prefer to Inhale
Generally, millennials and baby boomers don’t have a whole lot in
common. However, when it comes to cannabis consumption, both
generations prefer inhaling, according to a study by Verilife, a
dispensary operator owned by PharmaCann. While the study didn’t
identify specific reasons for this selection, several factors might
play a role, including familiarity: Inhaled forms, such as joints or
pipes, historically have been the most identifiable way to consume
cannabis. Economics: Flower tends to be the least expensive
form of marijuana product, likely driving up its popularity among
consumers and accounting for the even higher popularity among
younger consumers who might have less disposable income.
Interestingly, both generations have very different reasons for
consuming cannabis. Baby boomers use marijuana primarily for medical
reasons (arthritis is the biggest ailment), while millennials are more likely
to pick up the pipe or vape for recreational purposes.
