While the WRX is one of the last cars to offer the unique thrill of a manual transmission , you can also opt for the newly available Subaru Performance Transmission , designed for blazingly fast upshifts and downshifts . The system ’ s Shift Logic gives it the ability to downshift before a turn , hold a gear through the turn and upshift at precisely the right moment — all automatically .
Even the rally-inspired styling of the WRX is functional , with its air vents , cladding texture , and underbody covers all helping to improve aerodynamics .
