and a spot amongst the most eco-friendly cars on the market. Not only is it the largest, most refined SUBARU BOXER® engine
available, but the 3.6-litre engine also offers smooth power delivery,
a quiet ride, low emissions and commendable fuel economy. Light,
compact and perfectly balanced by design, it features the Dual Active
Valve Control System for impressive torque when you need to pass
another car or start from a stop at a red light or stop sign. And to help

Drivetrain
Viscous Centre Differential AWD
For maximum control, the AWD system of the Outback utilizes
a viscous-coupling limited-slip centre differential. If wheel
speed differs between the front and rear axles, the system
helps distribute power to the wheels with the most traction.

generation Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission
(CVT) keeps the engine in its ideal power range for the
best possible fuel economy. The Lineartronic® in the 3.6R is
engineered to handle the higher torque output and offers a
smoother, quieter ride as it reduces mechanical noise during
operation. By a utomatically selecting the optimal gear
ratio, adaptive control adjusts to fit your driving style and
road conditions while ensuring maximum drivability and
efficiency from the 2.5i and 3.6R engines at all times.
Paddle Shifters
Paddle shifters are mounted on the steering wheel for
fingertip control, giving you the power to select the gear
ratio of the Lineartronic® CVT that best suits your driving
