Active Safety, to help you avoid a collision At Subaru, our goal is to inspire confidence through peace of mind on the road. This means bringing safe mobility to everyone’s lives, for a stress-free driving experience so that you can focus on your rewarding adventure in the Outback. Many of the same features which make Outback so satisfying to drive also contribute to its serious dedication to keeping its occupants out of harm’s way. The stable, responsive handling of its Symmetrical Full-Time AWD assures control in virtually any weather conditions. And the SUBARU BOXER® engine enhances this security, thanks to its lower centre of gravity, creating an even closer connection to the road. Its standard Vehicle Dynamics Control and generously sized brakes endow it with athletic reflexes, while the added precision of a Cradle Mount System for its suspension and steering equips the driver for excellent evasive abilities. All because Subaru believes the best way to survive a collision is not to have one in the first place. In control. Out of danger. BRAKING SYSTEM eyesight®1 The most important thing a Subaru can do is protect the people in it. We’re always looking for better ways to do it, and Outback is available with an innovative driver-assist system that’s watching the road with you: EyeSight®. Like a second pair of eyes to help monitor the road ahead, it watches for potential danger, warns you when it sees potential danger, and can even adjust your speed and braking to help you avoid it. The standard 4-wheel disc brakes feature light weight aluminum rear calipers and a strong, reassuring brake feel. The Antilock Braking System (ABS) includes Elec tronic Brake-force Distribution, to reapportion front/rear braking pressure when the vehicle is loaded. Brake Assist provides greater force in sudden braking even if the driver doesn’t brake hard enough. And Subaru’s Hill Holder helps prevent rollback when starting off on a 5% or steeper grade, by applying the electronic parking brake and automatically releasing it once you’re under way. If the vehicle approaches the limits of stability, the automatic transmission’s AWD torque distribution2, engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course. 1  Limited models only.
