Already naturally smooth and strong, the Legacy’s 2.5-litre
DOHC engine is powerful and fuel-efficient. Its mid- to low-
range torque offers power when you need it from a complete
stop. You’ll also find that it’s responsive around town and
satisfying on the highway, thanks to 174 lb-ft of torque. When
combined with the standard Lineartronic® CVT, it’s even more
fuel-efficient and clean-running, making it kinder to your
wallet and the environment.

Not only is it the largest, most refined SUBARU BOXER® engine
available, but the 3.6-litre engine also offers smooth power
delivery, a quiet ride, low emissions and commendable fuel
consumption. Light, compact and perfectly balanced by design,
it features the Dual Active Valve Control System for impressive
torque for when you need to pass another car or start from a stop
at a red light or stop sign. And to help ensure your Legacy gets
optimal fuel economy at every speed, the 3.6-litre engine has been
paired with the smooth and efficient high-torque Lineartronic® CVT.
