In control. Out of danger. WHAT’S INSIDE: Legacy’s all-wheel-drive traction, natural agility, and active safety systems are always ready to help step around danger that comes your way. WHAT IT DOES: Since we know the best way to survive an accident is to steer clear of it, a confident and quick reaction helps keep you out of harm’s way. ACTIVE SAFETY, TO HELP YOU AVOID A COLLISION Many of the same features which make a Legacy fun to drive also keep its occupants out of harm’s way. The stable, responsive handling of its Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD is enhanced by the low centre of gravity of its SUBARU BOXER® engine. Its available Vehicle Dynamics Control System, surefooted suspension, 4-wheel antilock brakes, Traction Control System, and quick steering equip the driver with excellent evasive abilities. Understeer Oversteer Ideal cornering VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL SYSTEM 12 BRAKING SYSTEM Standard in every Legacy, Vehicle Dynamics Control monitors and analyzes if the vehicle is following the driver’s intended course via an array of sensors. If the vehicle approaches the limits of stability, the AWD torque distribution, engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course. The standard 4-wheel disc brakes feature lightweight aluminum rear calipers and a strong, reassuring brake feel. The Antilock Braking System (ABS) includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution, to reapportion front/rear braking pressure when the vehicle is loaded. Brake Assist provides greater force in sudden braking even if the driver doesn’t brake hard enough. And Subaru’s Hill Holder helps prevent rollback when starting off on a five percent or steeper grade, by applying the electronic parking brake and automatically releasing it once you’re underway.
