If there is an obstacle ahead while driving , the Pre-Collision Braking System activates primary vehicle braking and then secondary braking to help avoid a collision . After secondary braking activates , the system determines whether the road you are driving on has lane markings and also determines whether there is sufficient space for avoiding a collision in your lane . At the same time , the system checks whether there is a vehicle approaching from the rear , using the Blind Spot Detection ( BSD ) / Rear Cross Traffic Alert ( RCTA ) system to determine if the lane is clear to activate Automatic Emergency Steering . If there is an extremely high possibility of a collision with the obstacle using only secondary braking , Automatic Emergency Steering is activated , and the system controls the steering wheel to help avoid the collision while staying in the lane . After a collision with the object is avoided , the system continues to control the brake and steering wheel so that your vehicle does not leave its lane until the vehicle comes to a complete stop .
