Seats, Seatbelts and SRS1 Airbags Standard on every Forester are front, front side, driver’s knee and side-curtain SRS1 airbags, as well as height-adjustable front seatbelts with pretensioners to hold occupants firmly in place, and load limiters that ease peak forces to the chest. Whiplash-reducing front seats automatically move in a rear collision for better support of the head and neck. Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame The Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame strengthens the passenger cabin from the roof to the doors, pillars and floor. This design helps to divert and dissipate impact energy away from the occupants in a collision. The front crumple zone is integral to the frame. Break Away Engine Every Subaru goes above and beyond common practice when it comes to your safety. In the event of a head-on collision, the SUBARU BOXER® engine and gearbox are driven under the front seat occupants and away from the cabin for your protection. Pedestrian Protection Forester was designed with the objective of providing a high level of pedestrian protection. Shockabsorbing space between the hood and engine helps to reduce pedestrian injury in an accident, as do an energy-absorbing front bumper and a specially designed area around the windshield wipers. 1 SRS: Supplemental Restraint System. Effective when used in conjunction with seatbelts. 17
