Maintenance and service/Fuses & High voltage battery The high voltage battery is charged from the operation of the engine and regenerative brakes. Because of this, you do not have to charge the high voltage battery from an outside source. However, in order to maintain the battery in good condition, drive the vehicle at least once every month for at least 30 minutes. If you leave the vehicle for a long time, the battery may discharge or the life of the battery may be shortened. Fuses CAUTION 11-37 The fuses are designed to melt during an overload to prevent damage to the wiring harness and electrical equipment. The fuses are located in two fuse boxes. Never replace a fuse with one having a higher rating or with material other than a fuse because serious damage or a fire could result. One is located under the instrument panel behind the fuse box cover on the driver’s seat side. To remove the cover, pull it out. CAUTION When replacing a fuse, do not touch the area around the front bumper. Also, do not put tools or cloths in this area. If any function of the cooling system operates, it may lead to an injury or a failure of the cooling system. – CONTINUED –
