SUBARU GLOBAL PLATFORM ( SGP )
01
VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL SYSTEM
If the vehicle approaches the limits of stability , the AWD torque distribution , engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course .
02
REVERSE AUTOMATIC BRAKING 1
This system detects obstructions behind the vehicle and automatically applies the brakes when it judges that the risk of collision is high . Reverse Automatic Braking also incorporates a rear obstruction warning feature , which signals drivers using different patterns of alarms according to the distance from the obstruction .
ACTIVE TORQUE VECTORING
03 The available Active Torque Vectoring system applies 04
The Subaru Rear / Side Vehicle Detection ( SRVD ) system the brake to the inside wheel , transferring more torque to the outside wheel when cornering to improve handling .
SUBARU REAR / SIDE VEHICLE DETECTION ( SRVD ) 32 features Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist
that sees where you don ’ t and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to warn you of traffic approaching from the side when you ’ re backing up .
ACTIVE SAFETY
SUBARU GLOBAL PLATFORM ( SGP )
05
HAZARD AVOIDANCE
Made possible by the SGP , the lower centre of gravity design , enhanced suspension system , and rigidity improvements provide a vehicle that responds immediately when evasive actions are taken , helping avoid hazards on the road .
The SGP ’ s advancements throughout the chassis — higher rigidity , higher strength , lighter weight , better driving stability and responsive steering — particularly benefit these safety systems .
06
CABIN-PROTECTING LAYOUT
Due to the low centre of gravity design of the SGP , the engine and gearbox are designed to slide beneath the vehicle in the event of a collision .
RING-SHAPED REINFORCEMENT FRAME
07 Utilizing the SGP , the Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame 08 makes better use of high-tensile strength materials and
has been structurally redesigned for more efficient energy absorption from impacts in all directions .
09
WHIPLASH-MITIGATING FRONT SEATS
Designed to enhance comfort and help the driver feel more planted for more control , these seats can also help reduce the possibility of whiplash resulting from certain types of collisions .
10
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM ( SRS ) 3 AIRBAGS
The front-side and side curtain airbags have been redesigned to increase protection regardless of passenger position . A pressure sensor has been added inside the front doors for faster sensing speed while reducing false airbag deployment .
SEATBELTS
The height-adjustable front seatbelts feature pretensioners and a new locking tongue to hold passengers firmly in place , while load limiters ease peak forces to the chest area . The end result is improved safety and lower risk of injury .
PASSIVE SAFETY
1 The Reverse Automatic Braking System is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving . System effectiveness depends on many factors , such as vehicle maintenance , vehicle speed , weather and road conditions . Always exercise caution and use vehicle mirrors and the Rearview Camera when backing up . See Owner ’ s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations . Requires optional EyeSight ® Package . 2 Sport and Limited models only . 3 SRS : Supplemental Restraint System . Effective when used in conjunction with seatbelts .
