Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel
The Igloos hotel can be found at Sorrisniva, the world’ s northernmost ice hotel at approx. 30 km from Alta in an idyllic ambient on the shores of the Alta river.
Born from an idea of the Wisloff brothers in 2000, with the help of a very well matched squad, a big family.
The artists are born in Alta and they live here cause the founders want to give value to the local culture. The artists are: Maya Christine
Opgård, Sonja Saxe Kjeldsberg, Knut
Kjeldsberg, Roar Kjeldsberg and Johnny Trasti. They are all exceptional in they ability to create art with snow and ice.
They are baked up by the Alta workers, which work every day for 5 weeks to create this temporary hotel.
The philosophy of the hotel is to let you live a unique and breathtaking experience: a life experience.
The theme of the decorations of the commons parts, of suites, and in the end, the chapel will be changed every year. The visitor will be surrounded into the typical atmosphere of the tales of this northern part of the world.
Last year the legends and the Nordic myths took to the realization of trolls and other characters of the Norwegian tales, this year the mood was inspired by glaciation.
L’ Hotel Igloo si trova a Sorrisniva ed è il più settentrionale albergo di ghiaccio nel mondo, a circa 20 km da Alta in un ambiente idilliaco sulle rive del fiume Alta. Nato dall’ idea dei fratelli Wisloff nel 2000 con l’ aiuto di una squadra molto affiatata, come una grande famiglia.
Gli artisti sono originari di Alta e vivono qui. L’ obiettivo dei fondatori e di dare valore alla cultura locale. Gli artisti sono: Maya Christine Opgård, Sonja Saxe Kjeldsberg, Knut Kjeldsberg, Roar Kjeldsberg e Johnny Trasti. Sono tutti eccezionali nella loro capacità di creare arte con la neve e il ghiaccio.
Questi sono affiancati da lavoratori di Alta, che lavorano tutto il giorno per 5 settimane per creare questo albergo temporaneo.
La filosofia dell’ hotel è di farvi vivere un’ esperienza unica e mozzafiato: una esperienza di vita.
Il tema delle decorazioni delle parti comuni, delle suite e, per finire, della cappella viene cambiato ogni anno e vuole far calare il visitatore in quell’ atmosfera tipica dei racconti di questa parte settentrionale del mondo.
L’ anno scorso le leggende e i miti nordici hanno portato alla realizzazione di troll e altre figure della narrazione norvegese, quest’ anno il mood si è ispirato alla glaciazione.
