Style Equation Magazine - THE STYLE OF MUSIC ISSUE | Página 111
Mozie is a force unto himself and his clients rock clothing that comes with a warning label: not
for the faint of heart. His tools of the trade are familiar: Justin Bieber in Yves Saint Laurent
looking eerily like James Dean smoking after school in A Rebel With A Cause; Chris Brown in
Dolce and Gabbana dappered like his name might be Bond, James Bond; or numerous other
who’s who in Burberry, American Apparel, or Prada. Pick your poison.
Yes, Mozie is a breath of fresh air and one thing that becomes painfully obvious when separating him from the rest of the pack is his ability to undress men of their societal stereotypes and
redress them in all new unconventional modern day norms. Man goes from Dad’s button down
to son’s knee length cardigan and extra skinny trousers and sweeping V-necks that dive all
the way down to the base of the pectorals. Good-bye, Fuddy Duddy. Hello, Sexy. Maybe it’s
prevoyance--an invigorating look at the larger future picture of man against society.
Maybe according to the Nigerian-born/American-raised Mozie, the modern man nol onger
needs to be square-jawed, mow the lawn, and wear Dockers and Sebagoes. And if he is
square-jawed and broad-chested, those plunging European V-necks and Timberland boots
are tailor made for his breed.
If we take a look at his CV, it reads like a list of honors all achieved before he reached his own
peak of manhood: showcasing a fashion line at NY Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, fashion
editor for Ghubar Magazine at 18, fashion editor at large for 360 Magazine, contributing editor
to FAB Magazine London and so on and so forth. It is when he steps into the floodlights of
the stage and works magic for some of the industry’s brightest stars that heads really start to
turn and pay attention.
Perhaps it is his youth and sense of presence in the here and now that informs his radical and
daring style choices for clients like Beyonce and Kelis. Perhaps it is equally his fearless attitude that has propelled him directly into the center of attention with his bold clothing choices
for Chris Brown and Diddy. And perhaps it is his virtuosic prodigy that has made him one to
watch as the seasons change from one fashion week to the next.
