Buck came back and sat next to Stumpy.
"You know Stumpy, our ecosystem is a valuable
thing. And it wasn't always as nice as it is now."
"What do you mean Buck?"
"Well, there was a time long ago when there
were many, many more beaver around here. I
would venture a guess that there were hundreds
of millions of us!"
"Wow! I learned in school that there are only
tens of millions of beavers now. What
happened?" asked Stumpy.
"Well, let me tell you a story. Our story. Would
