DEGREE APPRENTICESHIPS
How you ’ ll be taught and assessed
Degree apprenticeships take between one and five years to complete , depending on the course . You ’ ll typically go to university one day a week for around 30 weeks each year . On the weeks you don ’ t go to university , you ’ ll spend at least six hours per week studying outside of work .
The weekly hours of study are called off-the-job training . This takes place mainly at the University , where you ’ ll attend lectures and practical sessions to develop the knowledge , skills and behaviours to achieve your apprenticeship . You can also do off-the-job training at your workplace .
You ’ ll need to keep a record or log of your training and prepare a portfolio with evidence of what you ’ ve done for your end-point assessment ( EPA ). You ’ ll also read , research and write your assignments . Once you ’ ve completed all of this , you ’ ll graduate alongside the rest of your class .
Funding
The Government and your employer pay your tuition fees with their levy funding , so you won ’ t need to take out a tuition fee loan . You don ’ t need a student maintenance loan either because you ’ ll be earning a salary from your employer .
