As of 2019, Sub-Saharan Africa was the world leader in terms of mobile money adoption. The region was home to 45% of all registered users, accounting for 64% of global transaction volume (i.e. ~24bn transactions) and 66% of the global transaction value (i.e. USD ~456bn).
