If you are a local student, you might complete the process within 4 weeks. However, if you have school-aged children and you are applying for your children to attend The KAUST School, you should do this as early as possible and allow more time. This is a separate process and admission is not guaranteed. For international students, the average onboarding process takes around 8-12 weeks. Whether a local or international student, once all onboarding requirements are met, your travel will be arranged for a date within a week of the orientation / semester start.
5. What do I need to do before being able to arrive at KAUST?
As an international student, you will require a student visa to enter Saudi Arabia. Once you fill out the onboarding form you will receive detailed instructions via email informing you about the steps required to obtain your visa. KAUST has connections with visa agencies in your home country to help you with the visa process.
As an iqama- holding student, you have to complete your sponsorship transfer before you can relocate to KAUST. All students must get medically cleared by KAUST Health Department to be onboarded to KAUST.
6. Is medical screening a requirement?
Yes, it is a requirement for local and international students. For international students, the embassy would require medical tests to issue your student visa. Please upload your visa medical reports using the link provided by your onboarding advisor. All medical-related information is kept strictly confidential, and your onboarding advisor does not have access to any students’ medical records. Once our KAUST Health Department( KH) receives the medical report from you, they might reach out to you in case additional tests and / or reports. Once their review is completed, they will approve your medical clearance. It is a requirement by KAUST Health Department( KH) to ensure the availability of medical services and medications for all students.
7. What would happen if I missed the onboarding deadline?
If you don ' t join before the start of the semester, you would have to defer your admission.
