AYR CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS
MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS
I have been delivering Mental Health/Mental
Wellbeing workshops for 2014 on the Ayr and
Kilmarnock campuses. These workshops have
highlighted what possible stressors there are in
a student’s life that can impact on their time at
college how these can be minimised, and how the
Student Association and the College can help the
student maintain positive mental wellbeing.
Ayrshire College
As part of the support the college can offer we are
pleased to announce that Ayrshire College is the first
of the Scottish Colleges to have a fully functioning
“Bibliotherapy” (read yourself well) service. This can be
accessed in the Learning Resource Centres of the 3 main
campuses, Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning. If you are
attending one of the satellite campuses speak to your
guidance lecturer and alternative arrangements can be
made.

The feedback from the sessions was extremely positive,
with the case studies proving to be most popular.
If you think this workshop would benefit you or your class
speak to your guidance lecturer and they will contact me
to book you in.
LGBT FILM NIGHT
As part of LGBT History Month, the Ayr
Campus held a film night, showcasing the
movie ‘But I’m A Cheerleader’ which was open
to students and staff. Similar events were held
in the Kilmarnock and Kilwinning campuses,
where the movie ‘Milk’ was screened.
