While all of Van Gogh's work is outstanding, it is his sunflowers that stand out the most to me. His technique and command of color is exceptional in these paintings and he manages to capture the delicate balance between life and death in his flowers.
It takes an exceptional type of person to transform the pain of a tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Because of this Van Gogh is not only considered one of the best painters to have ever lived, but also one of the most amazing individual to have ever lived.
If you are going to visit one museum while you're in Pairs it should be Musee D'orsay. They house a number of master pieces and a large collection of Vincent Van Gogh's work.
