Q.Is it difficult to appeal to everyone's tastes?

A.Yes! Everyone has their own individual tastes and requirements, but we try to capture each of these by offering hot and cold options including vegetarian dishes, along with grab and go items.

Q. What's your favourite healthy option available at the college and why?

A.The salad bar. It's fresh and colourful and looks really inviting. It includes a range of salad options plus pasta, cous cous, potato salad and boiled eggs. The range of three sizes allows it to appeal to most budgets too.

Q. How well do the healthy options sell?

A.Soups, salads and the deli bar are all very popular on this site.

Q.What's the most popular unhealthy food at college?

A. Chips!

Q. What else could the canteen do to improve the healthy lunch options?

A. We always look for from customers and hold a catering focus meeting every term with the Class Reps. The Chartwells are always developing their ideas which get implemented across the business.

Q. Do you have any healthy food options planned for the future?

A. We are introducing a 'Free Fruit Friday' as of November 4th where customers who buy one daily hot meal or a pizza will be entitled to a piece of fruit free of charge. The fruit range will include apples, oranges and pears.

Fruit fact: The college canteen does not make profit off their fruit, they sell it at the price they buy it.

Q. Do you have any vegetarian and vegan options?

A. There are vegetarian options available everyday. There is a hot vegetarian meal daily, it might be lasagne, qourn sausages, pizza or quiche. You've also got vegetarian toppers for jacket potatoes, everything in the salad bar is vegetarian and does not come into contact with protein, there's vegetarian sandwiches and pasta pots. the demand in terms of feedback we've had from customers isn't there to warrant the vegan menu, however we'd always be open to new things in the future.

Being in the cafeteria before the rush of lunchtime made me realise how much effort goes into presenting the food and making sure that the meals we get are high quality. I didn't realise the range of offers we have, and how many vegetarian options are available to us. The canteen tries its best to cater to all the students, and they are always open to your suggestions.

If you have any comments, reviews or questions regarding the college canteen please send one of the Snapshot authors an e-mail, contact your Class Rep, or visit the canteen to speak to the cooks themselves.
