A large, rectangular play space of about twenty meters long is required. The children are divided into two teams, each with five to ten elements. Each team is positioned at one end of the field, and at the midpoint between the two, the mother, who has a cloth or handkerchief in hand and who will lead the game.
The elements of each team must have a number, assigned secretly, without the other team knowing. If, for example, teams have eight elements each, they will be numbered from one to eight. After this assignment of numbers, each team will position themselves at the end of their field, in their home, with children placed side by side.
Then the mother, with a handkerchief in her hand and placed at the midpoint of the field, calls a number, by chance. Immediately, the players whose number was called (one from each team), run to the mother. Each one of them tries to remove the handkerchief from the mother, without being caught by one another. If none remove the handkerchief at any time, the mother can call another number.
If someone who removes the handkerchief from the mother returns with the handkerchief to her house without being touched, she earns a point for her team.
