YEAR 12
TASTER DAY
FRIDAY 14 th JULY
10:00 – 16:00
ARE YOU STUDYING SCIENCE, MATHS OR PSYCHOLOGY A-LEVELS AND
CONSIDERING YOUR CAREER OPTIONS?
THEN COMING TO OUR TASTER DAY WILL REALLY BRING OUR HEALTHCARE
PROFESSIONS TO LIFE.
Have you ever considered the physics and maths involved in producing an x-ray? How about the
chemistry involved in blood clotting and cardiac arrest? Or, the combination of physics and
psychology involved in hearing and sound recognition? Or even, what job you are going to apply
your ‘A grade’ sports science A level to.
Whilst all three of our practical courses involve plenty of biology, there is much more to these
healthcare professions than understanding human anatomy and physiology.
On our Taster Day you will get the opportunity to experience mini-lectures explaining all about
audiology, cardiac physiology and radiography. You will participate in practical activities using
our bespoke software, dummy patients and clinical equipment. You will even handle real bones
from the 19 th century bone collection and get to view ultrasound images of your own heart.
Who is the event for?
Any Year 12 student studying at least one science subject (biology, chemistry, maths, physics, psychology, sports
science) and is interested in practical healthcare careers.
