Life Orientation in the Senior and Further Education and Training phases
(called Life Skills in the Intermediate
Phase) is a compulsory school subject. The purpose of this subject is
to empower learners to achieve their
full physical, intellectual, personal,
emotional and social potential.
At the start of 2014 Life Orientation
for South African Teachers was published by Van Schaik Publishers. Prof
Mirna Nel, programme leader of the
BEd programme at the NWU Vaal
Triangle Campus, was the editor of
this ground-breaking compendium of
Life Orientation subject knowledge.
Researchers and academics from
the North-West University, the University of Pretoria, the University of
the Free State, Unisa, and Nelson
Mandela Metropolitan University collaborated to pen this textbook. Quite
a number of the chapter writers hail
from both the NWU’s Vaal Triangle
Campus and the Potchefstroom
Campus
