Basics about Shipping

Facts you should know before you start shipping to avoid confusion when reviewing your invoice.

The first and most important thing is how we determine your price. Every freight company calculates prices in the same way, although it may appear different because companies may not break down the costs for you in the same way. Because Structured Freight is an online freight forwarder, we provide prices every time you ship, and provide a detailed breakdown

of the costs. Let us start explaining how we calculate our prices:

1. Included is a the basic price list, which is arranged by weight and destination. The weight may be the real weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is greater.

2. To the basic price, we add a fuel surcharge. The fuel surcharge is a percentage added to

the price at the time the collection is made. This percentage is to cover the cost of fuel in the transport and it is published in our website or on our partners' websites. Every month the fuel surcharge varies depending of the price of oil.

Example: Let's say you are sending a 5 kg shipment from London to Manchester in domestic standard service. The basic price for this is £6.04 and the surcharge for May 2015 is 5.5% for standard services. So we add 5.5% to the £6.04 and the actual price for this 5 kg box would be: £6.39 (£6.04 for by weight and £0.35 for the surcharge).
