ith ever-changing requirements and paramount expectations of the customers, the
only way to stay relevant in the business world, is an agile supply chain. It should have
the ability to process and analyse the zettabytes of data being generated every year.
Supply chain managers are searching for the optimal way to figure out how to turn data into value
and maximize profit out of it. This would lead us to believe that data analytics is relevant more
than ever and making sense out of the data tsunami requires insane amount of effort! However,
this is not an entirely new challenge that we are facing now as the underlying principal of data
processing-to understand the data and act accordingly -is as old as humanity itself.
A Stone Age Old Problem
Have you ever thought that cavemen were already dealing with big data issues? Remembering
how to light a fire or which fruits are poisonous was essential for their survival. To store and
process this data, they used the they used the simple technique – Memorization.
