String Of Pearls Volume 2 February 2014 | Page 9

Every year we get the opportunity to visit the church member’s houses and it is always one of my favorite parts. The first few years that I went visiting houses was the hardest part, because the people have nothing yet they want to share it with you. They are so proud of everything that they do have and they praise God for those things and say that they have them only because of God. It made me feel guilty for all that I have and the ungratefulness that I showed. While we are visiting houses, the families continuously thank us and tell us how they pray for us and how much they love us. Almost every house that we go to the adults begin to cry because of how thankful that they are that we are there. We try our best to show our love for them by providing them with food, clothing, money (on occasion), hugs, Bible studies, and prayer. I never feel like I am able to give them back the love that they show me.

This year, on the first day we were there, I gave a lot of the kids that come to the church pictures of me and them from the past year. They loved the pictures. Later on during the week, we went to visit two of the little kids that I had given pictures to. When we got to their house, they ran over to me and did not let go of me. There mom told me that they had hung up the pictures in their house. She explained to the group how much it meant to her to see familiar faces that come back from year to year.
