I believe one of a Proverbs 31 type woman’s roles is to be a good encourager. When I think of specific women who encouraged me in my life, I usually remember a card or a sweet note that they sent me. This holiday season I think it would be neat to gift encouragement to others. I know we are all looking for a cheaper but still thoughtful way to make it through this Christmas, so the craft for this month will be something that will help strengthen your relationship with God, while making a special gift for someone else. With the 365 days of Encouragement Cards, you can brighten someone’s day everyday. What you need is about 370 notecards, pens or markers, and a rubber band, ribbon, or box to hold the cards together. You will also need your Bible or a way to access Internet in order to look up encouraging verses and quotes for your notecards.
Make a cover card by writing the words “365 Days of Encouragement because…. “ You can put any reason; on mine I put “because I love you”. You can put “because I care” or “because we all could use some” etc.
Title your first card “January 1, 2014” your second “January 2, 2014” and so on. (Make sure you look at a 2014 calendar, because if you are like you will probably get the different number days of the month confused)
Look up and write an encouraging scripture or quote for each of your cards. You can decorate them really cute, or just keep it simple.
Write an ending. A stack of encouraging cards can be encouraging year after year. But, a neat idea would be to write a little note on the last card that read something like, “I hope you had a full year of encouragement, if you want to encourage someone you love write your name on the back of this card and “re-gift” the “365 Days of Encouragement Cards” to someone you love.
Tie or box the cards in a way that it is easy to get to each day, and in a way that they can stay together.
Have fun, and gift a year of encouragement.- Addie Harrison
